Election Geek: 2008 Election News 24/7: Pelosi Changing Course on Offshore Drilling?

  • JC · 1 year ago
Can you tell me why we are even discussing this topic? Where was this issue 3, 4, 5 years ago? Shouldn't we hold all these politicians & candidates accountable for "not" allowing offshore drilling during those years? I'm tired of the "topic" of the current "problem" being an issue today, but during all the years when the "problem" escalated! Isn't there even one person who "anticipated" this problem. If so, please tell me, and let me know if that person brought the problem up to Obama or McCain. Afterwards, I can determine whether one candidate or the other has a "fault" in the problem, otherwise I have to blame everyone who had a chance to act over the last 5, 10, 15, 20 years - should I go on, it doesn't have limit, to me ...

Please help me understand! Am I missing something?

The topic is actually about 20 years old or so now. Republicans have wanted us to increase domestic oil production in the Arctic National Wildlife Preserve and offshore, Democrats have claimed it would "take five or ten years" to see a boost and would come at an environmental cost. Here we are.

Come on, that's Republican rhetoric! Why didn't Bush lift the Federal ban 7 years ago when he took office?!?! If he really felt that it was a critical thing to do as "policy", then why did he wait till now (at a time of so called crises?)

You KNOW that Bush's lifting of the ban was nothing more than election year posturing! And, don't forget George HW Bush is the President that established the Federal Ban in the first place ... Odd that the family has now had a "complete" flip flop (Republicans like that term :)
