Look, we may not be able to know who is milking the government and who is not, but alot of people are not able to just go and get jobs, or an education. Maybe they were dealt bad hands or maybe they did it to themselves. We have to trust that the government will do its best to weed through those who are milking.
But, just because they get a little money from the government, does not mean they get a free ride. I wouldn't trade places with them for one second, because it is hard being poor. I know there are poor people who get government assistance, but you don't have to pay for them. It is the popular belief among conservatives that hard working Americans have to pay for free loaders, but if you would like to really know, we pay more for white collar crime than for welfare. Yes, there is statistical data to back that statement up. So its not always the poor uneducated peoples fault. You are educated! Then by all means, ignore those who tell you they never have to pay for such and such again. The whole concept of what they supposedly said is ludicrous anyway.
On health care, I have spoken to m.d.s and patients from Germany, Canada, France, and England. They wouldn't trade their health care system for ours in a million years. People don't die waiting in line. That is well known propaganda, and yet we still choose to fall for it. Doctors get bonuses for preventative health care. They make 6 figure salaries. Patients of any social class can walk into a clinic and get treated for free. It really does work! I promise.
Doctors here? Preventative medicine HAHAHA! What a joke. The drug companies do not make money if people prevent their ailments. Basically, Bekah, whether you think someone deserves the right to be treated for free is your opinion, but just remember, there are poor ignorant crooks and rich sly crooks, the only difference is the rich ones cost us more money and know damn well better. Once again "don't hate, educate". As far as voting, you missed what I am saying. If you do not hold a job and collect government income, you should not be able to vote b/c you are not a contributing memeber of society, no matter what your race is. You are one that I applaud b/c not only do you work, but you are going to school. I am talking about the people who sit at home all day and do nothing but rely on the government to pay their bills. You can honestly say that you are ok with giving them your tax dollars when they are doing absolutely nothing to better themselves? Not only did I work 3 jobs while I was working on both my B.S. and M.S., but I was denied any type of medicaid coverage by the government. I believe that people who attend school should have some type of health care available to them b/c they are trying to better themselves. I was not able to get any grants and owe a nice chunk to Sallie Mae and yes it sucks, but has made me appreciate everything I have worked for. It is sad that those out there think they are entitled to free education b/c of their race. Free health care for everyone...you want to basically attend a charity type of health care??? It is sad that people really think this type of health system would be better. Watch the number of people scream when they get piss poor health care b/c the md's are not getting any great reimbursement and are breaking even after all of the years of schooling and debt they acquired. Alot of things sound better in theory until you put them into practice and then everyone starts to change their mind.

Re: Barack Obama has been elected 44th President of the United States

I give up! Sigh. For those of you (CC!) who think that Affirmative Action should end because the white men are loosing jobs to African Americans, you are WRONG. Update! If you think that there is equal opportunity, there is not! If you think that an African American took a job that you could have had, he/she did not! AA gives African Americans the opportunity to be considered for the same jobs as everyone else. So if you white people don't think it is fair, blame the white man who got your job because he was more qualified than you. P.S. I have to get out of this site.

Re: Barack Obama has been elected 44th President of the United States

Shane! The constitution of the U.S. affords us the right to vote no matter how POOR we may be. You think because our President is black that poverty will end and us po' and lazy folk will get a free ride? I work full time, attend 15 credit hours of college a semester, have a son, and I cannot afford health insurance. So I use the gov. so my son can go to the doctor, and so he can attend day care while I work and go to school 11 hrs. a day. I am poor! But I am trying really hard to make it, and I deserve to have my voice heard. Just as much as all of you. So, free health care? Hell Yeah! Free Education Hell Yeah x2. We as a nation should support our brothers and sisters no matter what color they are. Instead of kicking them when they are down. Because us Americans do not care about the future of our country, we only care about the color of of our next president. WOW. I can't believe that their are still people out there who think that the color of your skin determines your potential. By the way,
I don't dis Christianity, but I am an agnostic, so no, I think we've prayed enough for the last 8 years, now it is time to take our destiny into our own hands. Why should we take responsibilty, or why should Bush for that matter? Its all Obama's fault and he is not even it the White House yet. But I think that is a wonderful ideal.
Why does Bush have such a low approval rating? Its because those of you who kept voting for him are now unhappy about the outcome :(. They teach you the definition for Socialist in high school, and since you don't even have that concept down yet, I would be hesitant to call others uneducated. You sound like you get your education from the back of a cereal box. I have noticed a trend in uneducated party members; you take these "slogans" and obscure figures that a friend hands you or perhaps you hear on your favorite radio show, and you pawn it off as your own idea, as if you really know what your talking about. The problem is that you were raised to be scared, and scared is all you will ever be, unless you discover your own integrity. The educated Republicans I talk to aren't screaming "Socialist, and End of the World, and, America really screwed up". They are saying; "ok, whats done is done". "Let us now unite and remember what it means to be proud of our nation". I agree, and I have never been more proud to be an American. As for all of you who are too afraid and too busy feeling sorry for yourselves, you can either cry on each others shoulders, or help fix our nation. For goodness sakes have a little pride and dignity.
Obama 08'. P.S. There is nothing about the Muslim faith that condones terrorism. That is like saying; if your a Christian, then you belong to the KKK. How ignorant is that. "Education will ensure our future." I live in Louisiana and overheard many African Americans saying they voted for Obama b/c he is black. They are all living on federal government money and receiving free health care. I do not belive people like this should be able to vote. They can't even hold a job and the only reason they can give for their vote is b/c he is black. On the radio today, they interviewed an african american woman who said she is glad her brother is in the White House b/c she don't have to pay her mortgage no mo, her car note no mo, and her electricity no mo b/c her brother is going to take care of her. This is the type of person who really concerns me. We allow them to live off my hard earned money, vote, get free health care and education and it is all about what more they can get for free. Point in case is they think b/c Obama is black they are going to benefit. I realize that not all african americans are like that and there is white trash too. Oh by the way, I do realize McCain won LA, but just sickened by what more can we get for free.

Re: Barack Obama has been elected 44th President of the United States

Bob, I agree. I think it is time, actually it always should have been time, to pray. We need to pray to God that Obama can or will do a good job. I don't think it is possible, but we shall see. I am sounding negative here, but not much is known about him. He wasn't elected because of his known skills, he was elected because he is black. Well 7% of him is anyway. If it is the end, just make sure that you are living your life the best way you can and by the Bible.

Re: Barack Obama has been elected 44th President of the United States

You are right again Mark....As I mentioned in another comment above.
